Students pin hopes on open school

With 33,000 admissions conducted for undergraduate programmes, B.Com, B.Com (Hons) and English (Hons) have come out as the much-sought courses among students.

The SOL claimed that they were admitting applicants based on their percentages.

“We have admitted about 150 students who have secured more than 90% in Class 12. It means that SOL is catering to a large section of students,” said Dinesh Gupta, deputy director, south study centre, SOL.

On the other hand, students feel that SOL would give them ample time to pursue other professional courses of their interest.

“I took admission in NCWEB but they did not offer B.Com (Hons) course to me, so I have decided to take admission in the SOL and continue with my preparation for the chartered accountancy examinations,” said Priya Gorani, a resident of Ashok Vihar.

The SOL’s online admission procedure had also received a better response as compared to last year.

“The online procedure was introduced last year but this year we have got a huge response from students. Around 30 to 35 students are using the online portal to seek admission in the SOL,” said OB Sharma, assistant registrar, SOL.

The last date for completing the admission formalities is August 14.
