Submarines collide in Mumbai

Two Kilo-class submarines of the Indian Navy were slightly damaged last week when they bumped into each other while attempting to berth at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

INS Sindhukesari was returning from a sortie when it hit INS Sindhuratna, which was already docked there. There was no injury to personnel.

A navy spokesperson here said: “It’s a minor incident that occurred while a submarine was attempting to berth alongside another. The incident took place due to a malfunction on one of the submarines.”
