Forty-year-old Selja Puri, passed away late on Monday night at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital and 26-year-old Debashis Kar, who was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital, succumbed to the disease on Tuesday morning.
Before being brought to GTB on Monday, Puri had been receiving treatment at Max hospital. Her sample was collected yesterday at GTB, but she died late in the night same day. On Tuesday, test results confirmed she was suffering from the flu.
Kar was admitted into RML on September 12, but had been showing flu-like symptoms since more than a week.
“His condition had extremely deteriorated when he brought to the hospital. We did our best but couldn’t save him,” said Dr NK Chaturvedi, medical superintendent, RML. Kar died of respiratory failure.
Out of seven dead in the city, two were children— a 12-year-old girl at RML, and a three-year-old boy at Hindu Rao hospital. 70 cases were confirmed in Delhi on Tuesday, taking the number of affected persons to 1,415.
