Teacher molests minor in Srinivaspuri school

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her 60-year-old teacher in a government school in Srinivaspuri area in south east Delhi on Saturday, police said.

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her 60-year-old teacher in a government school in Srinivaspuri area in south east Delhi on Saturday, police said.

The accused, 60-year-old Hansraj, was arrested on Saturday after the girl complained to her parents. Hansraj was appointed as a guest teacher in the school after retirement and was being paid on a daily basis.

The incident happened when the victim, a Class 4 student at the school, had to stay back after school got over as she was not able to finish the work assigned by the teacher.

The girl narrated the incident to her father when he came home on Saturday night.

“My daughter got a little late in finishing her work and her classmates left for the day. On finding her alone, Hansraj locked the classroom from inside, stripped in front of her and molested her,” said Narendra Pal (name changed), father of the victim.

Parents of the victim and neighbours staged a protest outside the school demanding strict action against the accused on Monday.

“Hansraj also threatened my daughter and said he would kill her if she told anyone about the incident,” Pal added.

“We have registered a case of molestation, illegal confinement and criminal intimidation against the accused,” said OP Mishra, DCP (south east).
