The system looks at integrating the working of police across India and providing them with tools, technology and information to facilitate investigation of crime and detection of criminals.
The training will be given mainly to constables, head constables and sub-inspectors. It will, however, happen only after the Commonwealth Games.
"We will soon select the company which will provide the basic training in Information Technology. The training institute will have training infrastructure spread across Delhi so that the men can attend the classes at their nearest training centre. Every batch will train a maximum of seven hours a day and complete training within five working days ," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity.
According to police, the training will be imparted in Hindi and English so that trainees can understand the concept clearly as most of them will be constables or head constables.
After the completion of the course, the institute will give a certificate to each personnel and provide the database of trainees to the CCTNS Headquarters and Police Headquarters (training). Each batch will have 30-35 police personnel.
According to the police, the software will allow a secure medium of interaction and sharing of information among police stations, districts, states and Union Territory headquarters and other police agencies.
"The system will help senior police officers in better management of the force. It would help them in keeping a track of the progress of cases, including in courts and reduce manual and redundant records keeping," added the officer.
