Molesters, beware
The government will soon make molestation a non-bailable offence, increasing the maximum imprisonment for the crime from two to five years. The draft Sexual Offences (Special Courts) Bill, 2010 also proposes allowing the police to arrest a person accused of molestation without a warrant. A simple complaint from the victim will be enough.

Online firs
The Ministry of Home affairs will launch a Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) next year. If this materialises citizens would be able to lodge FIRs online. People would be able to track their cases online and would not be required to visit police stations. This will give the police little excuse to not register cases.
