The South Delhi Police

have arrested the duo for a series of snatchings they committed at various places in the Capital.

Police said the two accused, who are appearing for their board examinations, turned to snatching to fund their outings with their girlfriends.

In February, the police said, the two accused spent their preparatory holidays for exam allegedly snatching.

“Their victims include an MBBS student who lost her bag and mobile phone and a Spice Jet employee who was robbed of her laptop,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal.

The police claimed that these were not their first crimes and in May and June last year, they targeted several women and snatched their cell phones, handbags and gold chains from west Delhi's Janakpuri and Hari Nagar.

But on Saturday the two were nabbed at PVR Priya complex in Vasant Vihar.

They had gone there to dispose of a mobile phone and the laptop snatched from the airline employee.

“They have been habitually committing crimes to fulfil the demands of their girlfriends. They said that they showered them with expensive gifts,” added Dhaliwal.

While Chauhan is a student in a public school of Mahavir Enclave in Dwarka, Dass is appearing in the Class XII exams as a private candidate.
