The recording for voice and piano of some songs of Rabindra Sangeet is an idea of Tagore’s who found in musicologist Alain Daniélou (author of over thirty books on Indian music and culture) an excellent interpreter. Rabindranath Tagore met Alain Daniélou in 1932 in Shantiniketan when the poet requested Daniélou to transcribe some of the compositions from Bengali into western compositions that could be sung on the piano.
The event is in collaboration with the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre.
