Transport minister for better auto service in city

Delhi transport minister Ramakant Goshwami called a meeting of various departments including Delhi Police and enforcement wing of the transport department for betterment of services of auto rickshaw.

Taking into account the increasing number of complaints about overcharging by auto drivers, the minister said the department now wants them to run strictly by the meter or else face penalty.

In case of non-compliance, action will be taken.

The nature of complaints could vary from drivers refusing to extend service as per the meter reading, overcharging, misbehavior or harassment and refusal to go itself. The department has also decided to take strict action against the defaulter drivers of auto/taxi as the department is keen to bring discipline on the roads.
