The international-cum-domestic Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, touted to be world’s second largest , is scheduled to become operational before the Commonwealth Games.
According to private airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL), 78 per cent construction is complete.
“We will start trial runs from December this year and it will be ready by March 2010,” said G.M. Rao, chairman of GMR Group, the leading partner of DIAL, a private consortium.
“However, it will be commissioned in July because Delhi Metro will complete the Airport Express Line in June.”
The Metro airport line will be integrated with Terminal 3 so passengers can experience seamless travel between the two. Thus the terminal’s opening has to be synchronised with the completion of Metro work.
Without synchronisation, passengers may face problem.
