Trust vote debate will be for 16 hours

The debate on the trust vote will be held for 16 hours, an all party meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee just before the house met decided.

The debate on the trust vote will be held for 16 hours, an all party meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee just before the house met decided on Monday.

On Monday, the discussion would begin at 11 am and go on till 1 pm before breaking for lunch. After that, the house would meet again at 2 pm and continue till late at night. It is expected that the debate will go on for six hours on Tuesday before the trust vote that will decide the fate of the Manmohan Singh government.

All the leaders of the parties in the Lok Sabha participated in the meeting. The speaker, who is continuing in office despite rumours, requested the MPs to maintain decorum during the crucial debate.

The United Progressive Alliance government was reduced to a minority after the Left parties withdrew support over differences on the India-US nuclear deal.
