Delhi police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked a human trafficking racket allegedly led by a woman and arrest two persons.
Bal Bahadur Karki, the Nepali nabbed in this connection, and Gurcharan Singh were arrested from Paharganj of Central Delhi last week while the alleged kingpin Sharmila is still absconding, a senior police official said.
Around 15-20 people who were allegedly duped by this gang are still under shelter at various gurudwaras in Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, the official said.
The arrests came following investigations into a complaint by one Desh Raj who claimed that he was duped by the duo of Rs 2.5 lakh by promising him a job of a driver in Singapore.
According to Raj, he was promised a salary of Rs 45,000 in Singapore and was sent there by Sharmila and Karki on February six. "However, he was deported back the next day as he did not possess any valid travel documents," the official said.
On return, the complainant approached the accused persons once again to return his money but was promised a safe passage to Singapore via Malaysia. On March six, he was sent to Kuala Lumpur where he was to meet Singh.
