Two arrested for making spurious ayurvedic drugs

The Delhi Police have arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing spurious ayurvedic medicines in Bareilly and selling them to chemist shops in the Capital.

The Delhi Police have arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing spurious ayurvedic medicines in Bareilly and selling them to chemist shops in the Capital. A large quantity of spurious Regulin Forte and Recharge Plus has been recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Kapil Vaish, 29, and Vikram Singh, 38.

"Kapil Vaish was arrested with 30 boxes of spurious medicines near the Red Fort on a tip-off," DCP (crime) Ashok Chand said. Vaish disclosed that he had procured the capsules from a manufacturing unit in Bareilly, UP, police said.

"Drug inspectors in Bareilly were informed. Following which, a raid was conducted in the Bhojipur Industrial Area there and Vikram Singh was arrested. Singh disclosed that he had received boxes to pack spurious medicines from Manoj, who is at large," Chand said.

Vaish further disclosed that he had supplied spurious ayurvedic medicines to chemist shops in Bhagirath Place, Delhi, Ghaziabad and Lucknow.

The police have identified the shop. The gang had been selling spurious medicines at rates much less than the actual market price, police said. The gang used amla powder and dhania powder to prepare spurious ayurvedic capsules.

Vaish has an M.Com degree from Aligarh University and has allegedly made around Rs10 to 12 lakh by selling spurious medicines.
