The birth — five days ago — is significant as there are no white tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) in any of the forests across the country and they are only found in captivity.

Zoo officials said the cubs were too young to determine their gender.

The zoo currently has six white tigers, four of them females. The zoo had started breeding of the white tigers since 2012 and has been giving away white tigers to zoos across the country as part of their animal exchange programme.
