Pushed to the backfoot by the controversial remarks of its MP Shatrughan Sinha, BJP on Wednesday compared him with Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh saying it is best to ignore such leaders.
A day after BJP leader and filmstar Shatrughan Sinha praised Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar as prime ministerial material, BJP leader Uma Bharti likened Sinha to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, saying both should be ignored.
“Shatrughan Sinha shoots from the mouth. Like Digvijaya Singh’s statements, even his statements should be ignored. However, one should refrain from making out-of-turn statements,” Bharti said.
Responding to a query regarding Nitish Kumar’s harsh attacks on the BJP, Bharti cited an Urdu couplets to the effect: Don’t look at the enemy with hatred; what if you fall in love tomorrow?
Bharti is considered close to LK Advani, who was opposed to the BJP’s Modi-only pitch and wanted the alliance with JD(U) to hold.
