So, they committed suicide late on Wednesday night, the police said. The victims have been identified as Vijay Kumar Sharma, 60, his wife Neena Sharma, 53 and their daughter Sonia Sharma.

The police said Vijay Sharma was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his bedroom while his daughter was found dead on a bed in the same room with her left wrist slit. Neena Sharma was lying dead on a bed in another room, also with her left wrist slit.

A police officer said Vijay ran a car accessories supply and repair shop in Gurgaon and had borrowed more than Rs 15 lakh from moneylenders to keep his business afloat.

The police have recovered a suicide note in which Vijay said he was sorry for taking the extreme step as he could not do anything for his family.

V Ranganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said, “Vijay’s son Sandeep Sharma told us his father had even sold their car to repay the loans but that didn’t suffice.”
