Kejriwal, who had spent a cold night in the open during his protest outside Rail Bhavan, underwent a number of tests, including a CT scan at the Yashoda Hospital, where he stayed for around 45 minutes.

"I have strictly advised him to take two-day's bed rest so that the condition of his throat improves," Kejriwal's family doctor Bipin Mittal, who has been looking after him since 1995, said.

After returning to his home at Kaushambi, Kejriwal held a number of meetings with senior Delhi government officials.

Mittal said Kejriwal's "cough increased" due to his two-day protest where he had to speak a lot, besides spending Monday night under the open sky outside Rail Bhavan.

Mittal said Kejriwal has been suffering from "cough problem" since his childhood and also took homoeopathic treatment. He said the Delhi chief minister is also diabetic.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s dharna in the heart of the national capital came to an end on Tuesday night after two police officers were sent on leave under a compromise with the Centre over his demand for suspension of five officials for alleged dereliction of duty.
