UP encounter ends in failure; lone dacoit escapes dodging cops

Dacoit Ghanshyam Kewat escaped today after fighting a three-day long gunbattle with hundreds of policemen in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot. Ghanshyam Kewat escaped from a house in Suruwal Rajapur village despite hundreds of heavily armed policemen surrounding him.

A dacoit escaped today after fighting a three-day long gun-battle against hundreds of policemen in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot.

Ghanshyam Kewat escaped from a house in Suruwal Rajapur village in Chitrakoot, near Lucknow, despite hundreds of heavily armed policemen surrounding him.

Kewat, a dacoit having Rs 50,000 reward, operate in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh along with his gang. He is accused of more than two dozen murders, abductions and other crimes.
