The UPA's candidate for the presidential polls would be announced before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh leaves for the G20 Summit on June 16, Congress sources said.
The Congress core commitee met on Friday and is believed to have discussed the issue Friday. Party president Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel later met finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, seen as a frontrunner in the presidential candidate race.
