Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi on Wednesday reached the Ramlila Maidan to support Anna Hazare's fast for a stronger anti-corruption law.
The first BJP MP to reach the Ramlila ground, Gandhi went to sit with supporters at the site. Hazare's fast entered its ninth day on Wednesday.
Gandhi stated he was in favour of the Jan Lokpal Bill, which demands the inclusion of the prime minister, the higher judiciary and the conduct of MPs inside parliament within the ambit of the Lokpal (ombudsman).
The BJP leader had earlier said he would present the Jan Lokpal bill as a private member's bill in the Lok Sabha.
Hazare started fasting Aug 16 even as he was taken to Tihar Jail. He was released the same day, but he refused to come out. He shifted to Ramlila ground Aug 19, where he has been continuing with his fast.
