Vietnamese culture offers warmth to delhiites

Wednesday brought a lot of warmth for people in the Capital, not only because of the sunny conditions and favourable temperature, but also thanks to a motley group of 25-odd performers from Hanoi in Vietnam.

The 14 men and 11 women belonging to the Vietnam Theatre of Song and Dance - played traditional harps and drums, strummed the guitar, mesmerised with the flute, danced with dexterity and sang heartwarming symphonies in a packed ICCR auditorium at Azad Bhawan.

The venue was heavily guarded because of the presence of deputy prime minister of Vietnam, Vu Van Ninh, who is in Delhi as part of his maiden three-day India visit.

"We have a 40-year-old bilateral relationship with India. Indian culture is widely appreciated in our country and every year many people come here to study and stay for 5-7 years," Vu Van Ninh said.

Dubbed as Days of Vietnamese Culture in India, the programme was organised by the ICCR and the ministry of culture as well as the embassy.
