A series of events to celebrate the jubilee, which began two months ago, concluded with a grand finale on Sunday. One of the main attractions of the show was a musical performance by popular singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy, who also sang a few songs in Bengali. The performance was followed by a show by Palash Sen's Indi rock band, Euphoria.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the school has already held a festival of plays, a football championship, a magic show by PC Sorcar Junior, and various competitions. The mega celebrations of the Jubilee were held between November 22 and 25. On Saturday, the cultural evening began with a performance of folk songs by the band Dohar, followed by dance performance by the ballet troupe of National Film award winner Mamata Shankar.
“The school was started 60 years ago with the aim to promote Bengali language and culture and to provide quality education to students. The school began from classes held in tents but today we can boast of the best available infrastructure and education,” said Sukanta Bhattacharjee, the school's principal.
