The crime situation in the city is under control. Whenever a crime is committed we ensure that the persons involved are brought to book. Delhi Police has good track record of solving heinous crimes.

Police are often reluctant to register street crimes like snatching and mugging. Most such cases go unreported. Your comment.

The spurt you see in figures is because more cases are being registered in Delhi. We believe in free and fair registration of FIRs. Nobody is turned away.

Is there any organised gang involved in street crimes in Delhi?

There is no organised crime in Delhi. There are small gangs who are involved in incidents like snatching and robberies. Most of them are first time offenders and do not have a previous criminal record.

What are the measures you have taken to tackle street crime?

We have intensified beat patrolling and strengthened basic level policing. We also emphasize on building criminal intelligence system. We have also started checking motorcyclists for their antecedents and anyone with a suspicious record is brought to book.
