The accused, identified as Anil Sharma, was arrested following a complaint filed by music giant T-Series.

According to the complaint filed by Super Cassettes Industries limited, popularly known as T-series, the website was broadcasting songs owned by the company without taking permission. “Sharma was arrested on Wednesday for alleged infringement of copyright resulting from unlicensed broadcast of copyrighted works through the website www.radiomaska.com,” a senior police officer said.

Police said Sharma is also the editor and publisher of many magazines on tourism, business and politics. “The website has been operating an internet-based music streaming service wherein it exploits our copyrighted works without any license from us in blatant disregard of our statutory rights,” Neeraj Kalyan, T-Series president said.

In the past, T-Series has initiated action against various websites for copyright violation.
