“The issue has been discussed at URJA meetings and after a final consultation with the core group members of the RWA, a final decision will be taken. Kaul might fight as an independent with BJP backing,” said an URJA office bearer, on condition of anonymity.

If Kaul contests the Assembly polls, this would be the second foray of RWAs in electoral politics in the city.

Over half-a-dozen RWA members had entered the fray in the 2007 municipal polls as independent candidates. But they could not register victory from even a single seat.
