Talking to reporters Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said the proposal has been sent to the lieutenant governor to convene the session according to the dates proposed by the cabinet. The nine-day session will have seven sittings and would end on December 1.

The winter session of Delhi Assembly would also mark two years of the Congress government in the current term. Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government had taken oath for the third time on December 18, 2008.

Sources in the government accepted that the session is likely to be a heated one. With Delhi government’s several infrastructure projects being probed by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Prime Minister-appointed Shunglu Committee also investigating alleged corruption charges and anomalies in tender processes related to development works for the Commonwealth Games, the Opposition would raise the issue on the floor of the House.

"There are serious problems the way tenders were awarded and the cost of several key infrastructure projects raised. We had raised our voice on corruption in these projects in the last Assembly session also and this time we will again raise the issue in the Assembly," a senior BJP leader said.
