“We received a complaint from a married woman living in Faridabad’s NH-3 area alleging that her brother-in-law (her husband’s brother) had been raping her for about a year,” said a police official. He further said, “We registered a case under section 376 against the accused on Saturday.”

In her complaint, the victim also alleged that Sachin, her brother-in-law, had threatened to kill her one-year-old son if she did not fulfil his demands.

The victim Sarita (name changed) married Sushil (name changed) in August 2009. Quoting the victim, the cops said that Sachin would forcibly enter her room and rape her after her husband would leave for work.

She reportedly did not disclose this to anyone for about a year for fear that Sachin might kill her child and due to fear of social stigma. However, sensing that there would be no end to Sachin’s sexual demands, she lodged a complaint with the police two days ago.

“We arrested Sachin on Saturday and produced him before the court. He has been sent to jail,” said Hari Singh, Incharge Police chowki number 2 in NH3 area, Faridabad.
