Woman 'raped' by former partner

A 26-year-old woman has lodged an FIR against a man for alleged drugging and rape. She has also accused the man's mother for her involvement in the act. HT reports.

"The victim resides in Sector 22. The accused, Shivalik Ghosh, and his mother, Chitali Ghosh, hail from Siliguri and presently reside in Gurgaon. Both the victim and the accused are engineers and they work with a private company," HN Singh, SP (city), said.

"An FIR has been lodged at the women police station. She alleged that Ghosh served her some sedative-added drink and then raped her. She also named Shivalik's mother for involvement in the crime," Singh added.

"The woman police station in-charge is conducting an investigation," he said.

"Initial investigations have revealed that the victim and the accused were in a live-in relationship after Ghosh promised to marry her. Later, their relationship turned soured and he refused to marry her," the police officer detailed.

All India Women Conference representative Raksha Shukla said "sexual relations promising marriage also amount to rape. Women have to be more careful. Live-in relationships have several side affects for them so they must think before opting for it."
