Delhi Metro chief communication officer Anuj Dayal said the accident occurred near Mayur Vihar in east Delhi at around 4.30 pm.

"The victim was rushed to the nearby Kailash Hospital and he died in the hospital. It was a technical failure and we have set up an inquiry team to look into the matter," Dayal said.

"We will see that the victim's family gets maximum compensation," he added.
