The unidentified body of a woman was recovered from a park in northeast Delhi on Sunday morning, police said.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, DCP (northeast) said a team of the local police stumbled upon the body, wrapped in a bedsheet, on the 3rd Pushta Road in New Usmanpur around 10.30am.

"There are no apparent injury marks on her body which has been preserved at the GTB Hospital mortuary for identification for three days," DCP Jain said, adding, “a case of murder had been registered.”

The woman was clad in a black gown and blue jeans and wrapped in white bedding when recovered. As per provisions of the law, a post mortem will only be conducted on the victim after no one steps forward to claim her till the end of a 72-hour deadline, which expires on Tuesday night. HTC
