Power distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has taken this decision keeping in mind the rising number of nuclear families where both partners are working and have problems paying their bills on time on weekdays.

"While interacting with consumers, we realised that the number of nuclear families in Delhi is increasing and both partners work six days a week. Keeping such customers in mind, BYPL has decided to make its bill payment counters operational even on Sundays," Ramesh Narayanan, CEO of BYPL.

This move will help over 12 lakh electricity consumers in Chandni Chowk, Daryaganj, Krishna Nagar, Yamuna Vihar, Nand Nagri, Laxmi Nagar, Patel Nagar, Mayur Vihar-I, II and III, Jhilmil, Shankar Road, Paharganj, GT Road, and Karawal Nagar among other areas, Narayanan said.

The payments counters will be open from 8am to 8pm on Sundays but cash payment will be accepted at the counters from 9am to 3pm. A BYPL spokesperson said that of their nearly 12 lakh customers, over 80 per cent prefer making payments at the counters.
