Young cleric held for ‘sodomizing’ 10-yr-old

A young cleric at a southeast Delhi madrassa has been arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 10-year-old boy.

A young cleric at a southeast Delhi madrassa has been arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 10-year-old boy.

Police said the incident took place on Tuesday night in Hazrat Nizamuddin area, when the had gone to attend his classes.

The boy reported the incident to his mother on Thursday, after which she lodged a complaint with police and the 21-year-old was arrested. A city court sent the cleric to fourteen days’ judicial custody on Friday.

The victim’s mother and local residents allegedly caught hold of the accused and thrashed him at the madrassa, after they came to know of the incident, police said.

The accused hails from Khureji area in East Delhi and had joined the madrassa of Kali Masjid only a fortnight earlier.
