A 25 year old man died after being allegedly pushed from the balcony of a fourth floor apartment at RBI apartment complex on Thursday evening.

On Friday, the police, acting on the complaint of the victim’s cousin, arrested two of the victim’s friends on murder charges.

Deputy Superintendent of Police V C Tripathi said two brothers, Gaurav and Pranab Pratap Singh, were living at the apartment for the past few months. Gaurav, who did his MBA, and Pranab, who did a course in journalism, were here to seek a job.

According to the DSP, the victim, Kartik Bisht, was a friend of the brothers and was living in Delhi with a relative. “Two days ago he had come to Gaurav’s apartment. On Thursday, the three of them had a liquor party at the apartment,” the DSP said.

Tripathi said on Thursday at about 5.30 pm, the three had an altercation. “They came to the front balcony and started shouting at each other. Security guards Sanju Tiwari and Shiv Shanker saw them and sent them back,” he said.

“They went inside, where they had a physical fight,” said Tripathi. The DSP said about two hours later, the brothers took the victim to the balcony and pushed “down to death in an inebriated condition”.
