Maharashtra recorded a pass percentage of 91.26% for candidates in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams held by the state education board, results of which were announced at 1pm on Wednesday.

Konkan division recorded the best pass percentage at 95.68%, while Mumbai division, which includes Thane and Raigad districts, recorded a 90.11% pass percentage.

Out of the 12.37 lakh candidates who appeared for the examinations this year, 11.29 lakh passed the exams across the state, while in Mumbai division 2.57 of the 2.78 lakh who appeared for the exams, cleared it.
"The results are good this year. Students have performed better than last year," said Gangadhar Mhamane, chairperson of the board.
Mumbai division had the highest number of students scoring above 75%. Out of 97,429 students across the state to have got this score, 34,426 were from this division.
Science stream registered the maximum pass percentage at 95.72%, followed by commerce 91.60% and arts at 86.31%. Vocational stream had 89.20% students passing.
The HSC exams were held from February 21 to March 26, 2015.
