CBSE okays Maths (041) in Class 11 for those who studied Basic Maths in Class 10
This, CBSE said, has been approved as the current academic year has been “adversely affected by Covid”.
As a special case, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed schools to offer Mathematics (041) to Class 11 students who studied Mathematics Basic (241) in Class 10, only for the 2022-23 academic year.

This, CBSE said, has been approved as the current academic year has been “adversely affected by Covid”.
As per the standard rule, Class 10 students who study Mathematics Standard (041) can opt for Mathematics (041) in Class 11. Those who study Maths Basic in Class 10 can only go for Applied Mathematics in Class 11.
However, this rule was relaxed in the past 2 years, considering circumstances developed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which now has been extended for one more year.
This means all students who had studied Basic or Standard Mathematics in Class 10 can choose to study Mathematics (042) in the higher secondary level.
CBSE further said that before permitting students to study Mathematics in Class 11, school heads should ensure that they have the aptitude and ability to take the subject.
