First-semester students to get degrees from Bathinda varsity

Even as the managements and students of the colleges shifted from IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU), Kapurthala, to newly established Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda, are protesting the government’s move, the state technical department seems in no mood to relent. The department is also not ready to defer the transfer till the next session, as is being demanded by the colleges and students.

Even as the managements and students of the colleges shifted from IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU), Kapurthala, to newly established Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda, are protesting the government’s move, the state technical department seems in no mood to relent. “Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University has been established under a state government Act in which it has been stated that colleges of 11 districts will be now under the jurisdiction of the Bathinda university. It is obvious that the students who take admission after the June 30 notification will get degrees from the new varsity. Where is the confusion?” questioned principal secretary, technical education, MP Singh. However, the students who took admission before the June 30 notification will get degrees from the PTU, he added.
