The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering scholarships for Indian students to pursue higher studies in Germany. Applicants will get a chance to collaborate in projects with German scientists, researchers and practitioners in a wide range of areas. These scholarships are granted for a variety of study areas including international relations, public management, technology, and language and literature. Here are the details on the funding options available in the current academic year:
DAAD postgraduate courses for professionals with relevance to developing countries
Provides for: A postgraduate degree programme in select subject at one of the select German universities
Eligibility: Very well-qualified graduates (four-year degree awarded not more than three years ago) in any discipline with at least two years of relevant work experience

DAAD master's scholarship for public policy and good governance
Provides for: A Master's degree at one of the selected German universities with the following focus areas: public policy, good governance, international relations, public management, administration, civil society
Eligibility: Very well qualified graduates from focus related disciplines

DAAD PhD / sandwich / short-term / post-doc scholarships
Provides for: A PhD degree at one of the German universities or research institutions, or registered PhD students at an Indian university / institute carry out research for their PhD theses in India and in Germany under the joint supervision of an Indian as well as of a German professor. The PhD degree is to be awarded by the Indian university / institution. Or, undertake a research project at one of the German universities or research institutions without any degree awarded
Eligibility: Highly-qualified postgraduates from any discipline or scholars registered for their PhDs in any discipline at universities or research institutes in India (sandwich and short-term) or teachers and scientists at Indian universities and research institutions from any discipline

DAAD conflict studies and management programme
Provides for: A Master's degree in areas that may include: regional security (especially developing frameworks for regional security architectures), terrorism, governance, fragile states, peace and institution-building, global policy-making, cultural and religious aspects in conflict studies
Eligibility: Highly-qualified applicants in one of the following areas: international relations, peace and conflict studies/ war studies, international law, area studies or other relevant programmes with concentrations in conflict studies or conflict regions or applicants with different academic backgrounds with at least two years' practical experience in the field.
