HPBoSE 10th result 2018: Girl scored over boys by bagging the top positions and among the 58 students, who have made it to the merit list of top ten, 42 are girls.Updated: May 03, 2018 17:51 IST
Results of the Class 10 board examination conducted by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBoSE) which were declared on Thursday showed a fall of just over four per cent even as girls outclassed boys once again.
“Out of the 109678 students, who appeared in the exam, 68946 passed and 15214 got a compartment. The overall pass percentage was 63.39% compared to last year’s 67.57%,” said HP Board Chairman Vijay Shankar.
Exams were held from March 7 to 20.

The pass percentage was also better among girls. Out of 52127 girls, 34705 or 66.5% cleared the exam and of the 34241 boys out of 56637 passed with a pass percentage of 60.4%.
HPBoSE Secretary Harish Gajju said that Pritanjali Sen of Government Senior Secondary School Karsog and Avinksha Sarswati Vidya Mandir Churag, both in Mandi district jointly topped the exam by scoring 98.57%.
The second position was jointly bagged by Sonam New Era School of Sciences, Chhatri in Kangra and Rahul Kumar of Sun Shine public School, Rampur Bushahar, Shimla, who scored 98.42% marks.
Niharika Sharma of Him Sarvodaya Public School, Ghumarwin, Bilaspur district, Vanshita of Government School Bagdhar, Chamba district and Shreya Sahjeta of Aradhana Public School Rohru, Shimla and Ridhima of Career Academy Nahan, Sirmour district tied for the third position with 98.28% marks.
Sonali Thakur of New Era School of Sciences Chhatri, Kangra , Amolika St. D R Public School Gagret in Una, Umang Kaushal of Him Academy Hamirpur and Nishita Sharma of Gurukul Public School Pakka Paroh, Amb in Una jointly bagged the fourth position in the merit list by scoring 98.14% marks.
Riya of Lord Krishan School Jawali, Kangra, Charu of Bharti Vidyapeeth School Baijnath, Kangra, Stuti Sharma of ASSD School Gawal Pather, Hamirpur and Nikita Sun Shine Public School Rampur Bushahar shared the fifth position by scoring 98% marks.
Government schools performed better in the Class 10 exam compared to last year with six students figuring in the merit list. Only one government school student could make it to top list in 2017.
