ICSI signs MoU to conduct Company Secretary Olympiad

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a professional body of company secretaries, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for conducting the CS Olympiad for students of Classes 11 and 12 in each academic year in schools across India. The first CS Olympiad will be conducted in September 2016.
The one-hour Olympiad will comprise multiple-choice questions and there will be optical mark reader-based evaluation. The Olympiad will consist of questions from various sections which include - general knowledge, reading and comprehension, quantitative aptitude, basic commerce, basic economics and mercantile law, mental ability and reasoning.
“The CS Olympiad is being conducted for students so that they can evaluate themselves at school/city/state/national level and it will help the student to determine their professional career at an early stage. This will help in identifying competence matrix of a student,” says CS Mamta Binani, president, ICSI.
This Olympiad is independent of registration in the foundation programme (first stage) of the company secretary course .
Some bright students, up to a certain rank achieved in the CS Olympiad, at state and national level will also get waiver of registration fees at the foundation programme stage of the company secretary course.
Every listed company need to have a full-time CS as per the ministry of corporate affairs and Securities and Exchange Board of India regulations. One can take admission to the CS course round the year. The CS examinations are conducted twice a year in June and December.
