BJP's record in Gujarat is of 127 seats but going by the trends in which BJP is leading in over 150 seats, the party is set to break its own record. BJP is likely to break Congress's 1985 record when Congress won 149 seats.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party's dominant start to counting of votes for the Gujarat Assembly election. The ruling BJP - on course to demolish the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party en route to a seventh term in power - has crossed the 150-mark in leads in the battle for the 182-member Assembly.

As the ruling BJP raced towards a record seventh straight term in Gujarat, party leader and state home minister Harsh Sanghavi on Thursday tweeted a message for party supporters, and people of the state. “How's the JOSH Gujarat,” tweeted Sanghavi, as the Election Commission of India (ECI) trends showed the saffron party was leading in around 150 seats in the 182-member Gujarat assembly.

Congress leader Mukul Wasnik said it wont be right to conside Congress's result in the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 as bad. "Party witnessed good results in several areas, but not in others. It'll be our effort to see how situation can be improved where results are good and what can be done where it isn't as per expectation," Mukul Wasnik said
