Madhya Pradesh Election: Dabara Assembly Constituency 2023
The Dabara Assembly constituency comes under the district of Gwalior and is one of the 230 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly constituencies.
The voters of the Dabara Assembly segment exercised their constitutional right on November 17, 2023. The Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Results 2023 will be declared on December 3.
According to the Madhya Pradesh Election Commission, the total number of votes in the state is 5,61,36,229, including 75,304 service voters. 2,88,25,607 are male voters, 2,72,33,945 are female voters and the third gender voters are 1373.
Poll pundits are expecting a tough fight between the Congress and the BJP this time too.
A look at 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election
In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, the Dabara Assembly constituency witnessed a 69.30% voter turnout, with 147,100 valid votes cast out of 212,245 registered voters.
In Dabara Assembly constituency, Imarti Devi defeated the Kaptan Singh Sehsari by a margin of 39.10% votes. The winning candidate secured 39.10% more votes than the nearest rival.
In 2018, it was a tight contest between the Congress and the BJP on the result day -- December 11. In the end, the Indian National Congress became the single-largest party, having won 114 seats. The ruling BJP was edged out in a close contest with a seat tally of 109 seats. The Congress formed a government with the support of 1 Samajwadi Party MLA, 2 BSP MLAs and 4 independent MLAs. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh had to resign to make way for Kamal Nath.
However, on March 20, 2020, Kamal Nath was forced to resign as 22 sitting MLAs quit the Congress, toppling the government. On March 23, 2020, Shivraj Singh Chouhan returned to power.
