Akbaruddin Owaisi

Akbaruddin Owaisi is an AIMIM leader. Since 2014, he has been the MLA of Telangana's Chandrayangutta assembly. He has been the MLA from the seat since 1999, having won the elections from there a record 5 times. Kodangal Assembly constituency falls under the Vikarabad district. It is a part of Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha constituency. Patnam Narender Reddy of Bharat Rashtra Samithi is the incumbent MLA. He defeated Reddy by over 9000 votes. The two are the main contenders for the seat in 2023. Akbaruddin Owaisi won the elections from the Chandrayangutta constituency in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019. He is the deputy leader of the party led by his elder brother Asaduddin Owaisi. In 2019, he was appointed as the chairman of the Telangana Public Accounts Committee. He is also the floor leader of the party in the house as his brother is now an MP. Chandrayangutta is one of the 15 constituencies in Telangana capital Hyderabad. In 2018, Akbaruddin Owaisi won 95341 votes (67.95 percent) and defeated BJP's Shahejadi Sayyad (15078 votes) by a handsome margin. BRS's M Seetha Ram Reddy polled 14227 votes. He will take on BJP's Kowdi Mahendar and BRS' Sitharam Reddy.
