Gangarampur is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Dakshin Dinajpur district. People of Gangarampur voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 26 and the result was declared on May 2.

In the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Gangarampur constituency had 6 candidates for assembly seat contention. Gangarampur was one of 44 seats won by the All India Trinamool Congress. Indian National Congress's Goutam Das won the election by upstaging All India Trinamool Congress's Satyendra Nath Roy by a margin of 10,733 votes.

98.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Goutam Das grabbed a total of 80,401 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Satyendra Nath Roy got 69,668 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Sanatan Karmakar bagged 17,604 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 47.0%, 40.8% and 10.3% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Satyendra Nath Roy defeated Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Nandalal Hazra by 668 votes.
