West Bengal Election: Islampur Assembly Constituency 2022

Islampur is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Uttar Dinajpur district. People of Islampur voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 22 and the result was declared on May 2.

Islampur assembly constituency had 1,87,357 electors in 2016, out of which 98,925 were male voters and 88,432 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.0% votes.

What happened last time

In 2016, 8 candidates were contesting for Islampur assembly constituency seat. Islampur was one of 44 seats won by the All India Trinamool Congress. Indian National Congress's Kanaia Lal Agarwal won the election by defeating All India Trinamool Congress's Abdul Karim Chowdhary by a margin of 7,718 votes.

The top three candidates split 96.3% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Kanaia Lal Agarwal got a total of 65,559 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Abdul Karim Chowdhary secured 57,841 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Saumyaroop Mandal grabbed the third spot with 18,668 votes. The top three parties got 44.5%, 39.2% and 12.7% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Abdul Karim Chowdhary defeated Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Sayeda Farhat Afroz by 11,272 votes.
