Abhishek Bachchan shows his charitable side

Scheduled to host one segment of an NGO’s event, Bachchan willingly stayed for three more.

Bollywood stars have always participated in charity events, but Abhishek Bachchan went a step ahead recently. The actor was invited to host one out of four auctions that were organised to raise funds for underprivileged children by the NGO, Magic Bus. But after his job was done, he decided to stay back and co-hosted the other three with Mandira Bedi.

The segment that Abhishek had been invited for was an auction for the inclusion of a new player in a celebrity football team. The team’s co-owner, Bunty Walia, was impressed by the actor’s hosting skills. “The charity gala was a huge success. The football segment fetched `21 lakh thanks to Abhishek and Mandira, who got the cream of the society to support the cause,” he says.

The other segments that Abhishek stayed back for included bidding for a trip to Thailand, another one to Zurich and a chance to dine with the Jodhpur royalty. The actor’s spokesperson confirmed the news, saying, “Though Abhishek was scheduled to be there for a single auction, the spirit and generosity of the evening made him stay back till the end of the event.”
