Hollywood actor Elizabeth Banks says she accidentally got into social networking via Twitter to fend off an impostor. Banks, 37, who has more than 506,000 followers and nearly 1,500 tweets under her belt, joined the microblogging site to get rid of her fake account, The Hollywood Reporter said.

“I accidentally got on Twitter because there was a fake Elizabeth Banks, twittering,” Banks said. Her friend David Wain, the director of the film Role Models, was following someone using the avatar Elizabeth Banks. One day, Wain was hanging out at Banks’ pool when he noticed a fake tweet from the account and brought it to the actor’s attention, thus ending the charade. “I got Twitter identity theft,” Banks said. She will be next seen in the film Our Idiot Brother with Paul Rudd. This is their fifth movie together.
