Jackie Shroff pays heartfelt tribute to Dilip Kumar on the legend’s 103rd birth anniversary
Jackie Shroff joined a list of celebrities in paying tributes to Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar on the late actor’s 103rd birth anniversary.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff paid tribute to legendary star Dilip Kumar on the latter’s 103rd birth anniversary. The late actor passed away in 2021 after a prolonged illness. In his highly celebrated career, Kumar acted in just 57 movies but came to be recognized as one of the finest thespians of the industry.

Shroff took to his Instagram stories to share a clip from the 1958 movie ‘Madhumati’, specifically of the song ‘Dil Tadap Tadap Ke’, which was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh. Jackie Shroff wrote a caption with the post, which read: “Always in our hearts #dilipkumar.”
Shroff acted with Dilip Kumar in the 1986 movie ‘Karma’, as part of an ensemble cast which also included Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Nutan, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, etc.
The movie ‘Madhumati’, whose shot was shared by Shroff, was directed by Bimal Roy and also starred Vyjayanthimala, along with Pran and Johnny Walker. The drama in the film centered around Kumar’s character – a boy with a modern outlook – who falls in love with a tribal girl – the eponymous Madhumati.

Dilip Kumar’s legendary career
Dilip Kumar was born Muhammad Yusuf Khan in Peshawar, British India, on December 11, 1922. He made his debut in the movie Jwara Bhata in 1944, as per IMDb. It was with the 1946 movie, Milan that he first found success.
Movies like Shaheed (1948) and Andaz (1949) heralded the rise of Dilip Kumar to a superstar status in the country, as he came to be regarded as the premier actor in Independent India. His most notable movies include Babul, Deedar, Aan, Uran Khatola, Insaniyat, Azaad, Paigham, Kohinoor, Mughal-E-Azam, Gunga Jumna, Naya Daur, Devdas, Musafir, Yahudi, Leader, Aadmi, Sunghursh, Ram Aur Shyam, and others.
Dilip Kumar’s widow, Saira Banu, also shared a heartfelt message on her late husband’s birth anniversary. She wrote, “Every year, when this day returns, it brings with it a gentle stirring in my heart… a mourn of all the seasons I have watched you live, not merely as an artist for the world, but as the finest human being I have ever known.”
