When Salman Khan gave acceptance speech on Shah Rukh Khan's behalf because he felt he 'doesn't get any awards'

At a 1998 awards ceremony, Shah Rukh Khan invited Salman Khan to deliver an acceptance speech on his behalf, because, he said, 'he feels mujhko saare awards milte hain usko nahi milta (I get all the awards and he doesn't)'.

Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan buried the hatchet a few years ago, and have since collaborated on several projects together. But before their years-long feud, the two were pally with each other.

At the 1998 Zee Cine Awards, Shah Rukh invited Salman on stage to give an acceptance speech on his behalf. Shah Rukh had won the best actor award for his performance in Dil To Pagal Hai.

In a video, the actor was announced as the winner by Kajol. He was seated next to Salman, as he got up to walk to the stage. On the way, he was stopped by director Yash Chopra, who hugged him.

Once on the stage, Shah Rukh complimented Kajol and Mahima Chaudhry, who worked with him in Pardes. She began talking about how much she admires 'the Khans', when Shah Rukh cut her off, and said, "Acha Mahima, abhi Aamir-waamir sabko bhool jao, Shah Rukh Khan ko yaad rakho (Forget Aamir for a minute and pay attention to Shah Rukh)."

He continued, as the other laughed, "It's wonderful to get this award, it's always been wonderful to get all these awards. I'm going to call on stage a gentleman who's going to thank everyone else on my behalf, because he feels mujhko saare awards milte hain usko nahi milta (I get all the awards and he doesn't). Mr Salman Khan!"

Salman, who was sitting with a very young Arpita Khan on his lap, got up and walked to the stage. Shah Rukh welcomed him, "Salam aleikum bhai, badhiya (doing well)?" Salman took the mic from Shah Rukh, and commenced the acceptance speech with mock emotion. "I can't believe this. I would like to thank Shah Rukh's cook, Shah Rukh's driver..."

Salman and Shah Rukh buried the hatchet a few years ago. Shah Rukh appeared on Bigg Boss 9, before appearing in a cameo in Salman's Tubelight. Salman returned the favour by appearing in Zero, and will also appear in the upcoming film Pathan, which marks Shah Rukh's return to the big screen after a sabbatical.
