College festival rocks Navi Mumbai

SIES, Nerul festival attracts over 4,000 students from the city.

The South Indian Education Society (SIES) College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nerul, rolled out its annual intercollegiate cultural festival, Siesons, held on January 21 and 22.

It witnessed a footfall of over 4,000 students participating in over 45 events, proving to be the biggest undergraduate cultural festival in Navi Mumbai.

This year, the theme was

Rang de Basanti

, symbolising Indian traditions and the transformation of youth into confident, open-minded, mature, innovative and independent individuals with a never-say-die attitude. Day one witnessed events including Goal Maal (football event), Tattoo-making, Battle of Wits (debate competition), Big Tummy, Street Play and Ad Mad sponsored by Hindustan Times.

Nine bands fought it out for the Band Event competition and Funk the System was declared the winner. Day 2 had with events like Bluffmaster (based on the popular game show), Pentathelon (relay of five continuous activities), Bollywood Masala and more. Street Dance topped the events with breathtaking performances by around 10 crews; with the winning crew scoring prizes worth Rs 20,000. The day ended with a folk dance competition and a fashion show, based on themes mafia and Miami. The Siesons 2010-11 trophy was grabbed by RA Podar College of Commerce and Economics.
