how the news of she being the next Bond girl is flattering, but untrue. “I have not been approached for the next Bond film as yet. The rumours are, of course, flattering.” So who’s her favourite Bond? “I thank the sun, moon and stars for giving the world Pierce Brosnan. But for some reason, I can’t think of a Bond film featuring him right now.”

The Oscar ceremony this year brought back memories of her last year’s glory. “I was reminded of the chaos, the non-stop running around in high heels, which make your feet ache,” she says. But why wasn’t she invited to the awards — as a presenter, or at least as part of the audience? “That’s a question for the organisers. They probably had an overdose of us last year,” she says.

Her stylish red carpet dresses have made news. We ask her about the most extravagant one. “The most expensive garment I ever wore was my BAFTA gown. I haven’t asked Oscar De la Renta its price but can tell you it’s priceless!” she replies.
